How do I clear the Data/Cache?
How Do I Clear S’more App Cache or Data on the Android Platform?
As you use applications, they start storing files to reference later. These are stored in the app “cache.” For example, if you’re using a web browser, it will download images so they don’t need to be downloaded every time you use an app or visit a site.
Apps also store data like your username and password on your device so that you don’t have to reenter them each time you log in.
At some point (usually to improve performance and free up space), you may want to clear S’more’s cached data or all data related to the app, including your username and password.
Fortunately, every Android smartphone has an application manager, making this process relatively painless. You can typically find the app manager toward top of your screen, though its location can vary slightly by the type of phone you are using.
In this example, we are using a Samsung Galaxy S10, but your phone might be slightly different. Don’t worry. Once you reach the Android app manager, the basics are the same, and the instructions provided here will work for your phone too.
Clearing the S’more App Cache
To clear the S’more app cache, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings of your phone.
- Tap the Storage heading to open its settings page.Note: If your phone runs Android Oreo or earlier, you'll want to open the App Manager settings page.
- Tap the Other Apps heading to see a list of your installed apps.
- Find the S’more app and tap its listing.
- Tap the Clear cache button.
Note: If you wish to clear all app data, including your username and password, repeat the above steps but tap the Clear data button for the final step.
What’s the Difference between Clearing Cache and Clearing Data?
If you tap the Clear cache button all cached data will be wiped. The next time you log into S’more, the app will re-download all it needs from the internet. By clearing the S’more cache, you retain your login data and points.
If you tap the Clear data button, you delete all S’more data stored on your device, including your username and password.
Thanks for using the S'more app!
